The OU\u2019s Broadcast & Partnerships team<\/a> is celebrating as one of two OU Connect<\/a> projects shortlisted won <\/span><\/span>Best<\/span> Onli<\/span>ne<\/span> Educational Resource<\/span><\/span><\/a> at this year\u2019s <\/span><\/span>Learning on Screen Awards<\/span><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The awards take place annually and<\/span><\/span> honour outstanding work in the field of education and television.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Award winner ‘<\/span>The unexpected places we choose to lay our dead to rest’<\/span><\/span><\/a> is an animation that explores the fascinating and sometimes unexpected places we lay our dead and how people stay connected with them. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It was produced to support the OU\/BBC co-production Inside the Undertakers with Stacey Dooley,<\/a> which aired on BBC ONE in November 2023. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Erica Borgstrom<\/a> OU Academic Consultant and Professor of Medical Anthropology, said<\/span><\/b><\/span>: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe judges praised the animation for its storytelling, use of interesting and engaging facts, and combination of imagery and soundscapes. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

It was an absolute joy working on this as an academic, collaborating with the Broadcast & Partnerships (OU Connect) team and Myth Productions, to create something that could stimulate curiosity and appreciation of diverse practices around death.<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Also nominated in the category was <\/span><\/span>Poetry as performance,<\/span><\/a> which was <\/span><\/span>produced to support the BBC TWO series, Being Kae Tempest<\/i>.<\/a> <\/b>The OU Academic Consultant was Professor Nicola Watson<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
