{"id":27199,"date":"2025-05-12T12:02:51","date_gmt":"2025-05-12T11:02:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/news\/?p=27199"},"modified":"2025-05-13T13:46:33","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T12:46:33","slug":"new-series-of-inside-our-minds-explores-adhd-and-dyslexia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/news\/around-ou\/tv-radio\/new-series-of-inside-our-minds-explores-adhd-and-dyslexia\/","title":{"rendered":"New Series of Inside Our Minds explores ADHD and Dyslexia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new series of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.open.edu\/openlearn\/\">OU<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/\">BBC<\/a> series \u2018Inside Our Minds\u2019 airs on <strong>Mon 12 May<\/strong> on <strong>BBC Two<\/strong> and <strong>iPlayer<\/strong> at <strong>21:00 <\/strong>and from <strong>Weds 14 May <\/strong>on<strong> BBC Two Wales <\/strong>at <strong>21:00<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the success of the multi-award-winning first series \u2018Inside Our Autistic Minds\u2019, series two examines other forms of neurodivergence \u2013 ADHD and Dyslexia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.open.ac.uk\/\">Dr Jon Rainford, Lecturer in Childhood and Youth Studies<\/a> at The Open University, was the academic consultant on the series. He said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt has been an honour being the academic consultant on this project. Having lived experience of both ADHD and dyslexia and working with a primarily neurodivergent production team, this has enabled the development of a rich and sensitively portrayed series which really captures the nuance of what it means to be dyslexic or have ADHD.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Neurodivergent conditions, in particular ADHD, are often portrayed in simplistic terms. What Inside Our Minds does is give us a glimpse into the lives of four individuals to help show both the strengths and challenges that come with thinking differently.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>By better understanding neurodivergent people\u2019s lived experiences we can help remove barriers to their success.
