Open University graduate, Fay Dudson has won the Student Innovation in Practice Award<\/a> at the annual Student Nursing Times Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ceremony, which took place in a glitzy ceremony on 2nd<\/sup> May in London, honoured the outstanding achievements of the upcoming generation of nurses and their mentors, recognising those who consistently go above and beyond in their field.<\/p>\n

The judges said:<\/p>\n

\u201cFay impressed the judging panel with her authenticity and the remarkable personal and professional growth she has shown throughout her nursing journey. <\/em><\/p>\n

Her innovative work with marginalised populations reflects a deep commitment to tackling health inequalities and improving access to care. Fay truly embodies the essence of a Primary Care Nurse – dedicated, compassionate, and deeply connected to the needs of her local community. A shining example of nursing leadership in action.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On winning the award, Fay said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so surprised to hear I had been nominated for an award. Then when the shortlist was announced and I was on it, I thought how exciting I get to go to an amazing, fancy event in London!<\/em><\/p>\n

I had a fantastic day and felt privileged to meet and be in the same room as so many inspirational people. It never crossed my mind that I could win, so when they called my name out at the ceremony, I was speechless (which was a first).<\/em><\/p>\n

I\u2019m still shocked but also immensely proud as are my family, friends and colleagues. The support and well wishes I have received have been overwhelming and I couldn\u2019t be more thankful.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Fay studied for her BA (Hons) Nursing degree apprenticeship<\/a> with The Open University, graduating in April. She was nominated for the award by her OU tutor, Laura Courty.<\/p>\n
