{"id":28499,"date":"2026-06-19T16:08:48","date_gmt":"2026-06-19T15:08:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/news\/?p=28499"},"modified":"2026-07-08T12:11:41","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T11:11:41","slug":"live-event-set-to-tap-into-future-potential-of-young-people-in-a-world-of-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/news\/around-ou\/university-news\/live-event-set-to-tap-into-future-potential-of-young-people-in-a-world-of-ai\/","title":{"rendered":"Live event set to tap into future potential of young people in a world of AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With AI predicted to affect up to 40 per cent of global employment, The Open University hosts its first major online event for young people thinking about their future.<\/p>\n<p>Real Futures Live as the name suggests is a <em>live<\/em> online event designed to help younger audiences explore how technology is reshaping careers, the skills employers are looking for, and how learning is evolving in response.<\/p>\n<p>The event, on June 25, is aimed primarily at 18\u201330-year-olds who are thinking about their future and navigating an increasingly fast-changing world.<\/p>\n<h2>Gathering expert voices to help unpack a changing world<\/h2>\n<p>From AI and digital skills to careers, creativity and opportunity, the event brings together voices from technology, education and digital culture to unpack what\u2019s changing and what it means for young people.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by Vee Kativhu, Real Futures Live features short, fast-paced sessions, live audience interaction and conversations designed for a digital-first generation.\u00a0 It features a full line-up of presenters from across the tech, education, business leadership sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The format is designed to be fast-paced and engaging, with short 10-minute talks, interactive audience activities led by Dr Vee, and a series of OU proof-point showcases demonstrating how the University is already helping shape the future of learning.
