Our postdoctoral research associate\u00a0Dr Duygu Bektik\u00a0has complied the following list\u00a0of organisations\/funding bodies that offer\u00a0small<\/span>\u00a0research grants (under \u00a330k).<\/p>\n

Engineering education grant scheme<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Engineering Education Grant Scheme provides support for UK-based educational projects that aim to increase engineering knowledge in young people aged 5 – 19.<\/p>\n

The Engineering Education Grant Scheme (EEGS) aims to engage young people aged 5-19 in learning about engineering and to develop the professional skills of those involved in supporting STEM learning and careers awareness. The EEGS also supports projects that improve wider engineering literacy.<\/p>\n

Any organisation capable of developing and delivering UK-based educational activities is eligible to apply, including schools, IET or IMechE members and STEM organisations.<\/p>\n

There are two levels of funding available. Awards of up to \u00a35000 (inclusive of any applicable VAT) are available for standard applications to the fund, and up-to-four awards of \u00a315,000 are available each year.<\/p>\n

ALDinHE (Association for Learning Development in Higher Education)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each year, ALDinHE allocates a small pot of funding for innovative research projects that focus on specific aspects of Learning Development.<\/p>\n

(We e-mailed them and learned they will be advertising the funding in spring-summer via LDHEN, for the projects to commence in autumn.)<\/p>\n

SEDA (Staff and educational development association)<\/strong><\/p>\n

These SEDA small grants are to support research and evaluation in staff and educational development with the goal of continued improvement in the quality and understanding of educational development practices.<\/p>\n

Applicants might like to consider issues for educational development with regard to teaching qualifications and accreditation, technology-enhanced learning, HE in FE, or internationalisation.<\/p>\n

\u00a31000 for research into educational development practices.<\/p>\n

The Grant may be used to pay for time release, administrative support, equipment, travel or attendance at a SEDA conference or other event to disseminate the outcomes. Whilst the sum awarded may seem small, experience suggests that recipients have welcomed the external recognition for the activity they want to carry out.<\/p>\n

AHRC \u2013 Research Networking Scheme<\/strong><\/p>\n

Support forums for the discussion and exchange of ideas on a specified thematic area, issue or problem.<\/p>\n

Children In Need <\/strong>\u2013small grant<\/p>\n

RGS-IBG Small Research Grants<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Society offers several awards of up to \u00a33,000 to individuals for original desk and\/or field based research in any area of geography. Preference will be given to early career researchers.<\/p>\n

Deadline: 18 January (each year)<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Jasmin Leila Award<\/a>\u00a0of \u00a3250, and the\u00a0Rob Potter Award<\/a>\u00a0of \u00a31,500, will be given as a supplement to one of the projects supported under the Society\u2019s Small Research Grant scheme, or as an independent award.<\/p>\n

BA\/Leverhulme Small Research Grants<\/strong><\/p>\n

These awards, up to \u00a310,000 in value and tenable for up to 24 months, are provided to cover the cost of the expenses arising from a defined research project.<\/p>\n

Grants are tenable for between 1 and 24 months.<\/p>\n

Funds are available to facilitate initial project planning and development; to support the direct costs of research, and to enable the advancement of research through workshops or conferences, or visits by or to partner scholars.<\/p>\n

WELLCOME Small Grants in Humanities and Social Science<\/strong><\/p>\n

Usually up to \u00a330,000<\/p>\n

Duration of funding: Flexible, usually 6 to 12 months but can be longer<\/p>\n

There are no deadlines for this scheme \u2013 you can apply online at any time.<\/p>\n

National Lottery Awards for All<\/strong><\/p>\n
