{"id":554,"date":"2019-11-07T23:29:02","date_gmt":"2019-11-07T23:29:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/rumpus\/?p=554"},"modified":"2021-09-07T23:53:06","modified_gmt":"2021-09-07T22:53:06","slug":"complexities-of-responding-to-children-and-their-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/rumpus\/index.php\/2019\/11\/07\/complexities-of-responding-to-children-and-their-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Complexities of responding to children and their rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p2\">The interactive workshop \u201ccomplexities of responding to children and their rights\u201d was organised by PhD and EdD students\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">in WELS- ECYS on the 19th of November 2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The event was held at the Children\u2019s Research Centre of Open University UK.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-556\" src=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/rumpus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screenshot-2021-09-07-at-22.45.15.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1006\" height=\"1140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/rumpus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screenshot-2021-09-07-at-22.45.15.png 1006w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/rumpus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screenshot-2021-09-07-at-22.45.15-265x300.png 265w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/rumpus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screenshot-2021-09-07-at-22.45.15-768x870.png 768w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/rumpus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screenshot-2021-09-07-at-22.45.15-904x1024.png 904w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Linda Plowright presented her work about \u201c<em>Moving towards an agent child-guided research methodology&#8221;<\/em>; and introduced core research-choice methods<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Lucy Rodriguez Leon introduced her work about \u201c<em>Exploring children\u2019s understanding of text through mediated dialogue&#8221;;<\/em>\u00a0and described ethnographic methods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Petra Vackova<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>discussed\u00a0 her research study about\u00a0 \u201c<em>Felt, lively, embodied explorations of social inclusion around early-years art making in the Czech Republic<\/em>\u201d; and\u00a0 explained response-able methods<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The event was very engaging, fun and interactive with discussion, brainstorming, post-its mind-maps including activities in groups and also with the plenary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The event received participants from WELS and other faculties including supervisors, early carrier researchers, lecturers, senior fellows, professors and new PhD students.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">An important report was also launched,\u00a0 celebrating the OU&#8217;s 50 anniversary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Chamberlain, L., Afroze, J., Cooper, V. &amp; Collins, T.
