{"id":402,"date":"2021-02-19T11:05:24","date_gmt":"2021-02-19T11:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/sport-research-group\/?p=402"},"modified":"2021-02-19T11:05:24","modified_gmt":"2021-02-19T11:05:24","slug":"new-book-chapter-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/sport-research-group\/?p=402","title":{"rendered":"New Book Chapter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in 2017, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icsspe.org\/\" >ICSPE<\/a> Symposium on &#8216;Physical Activity and Sport: Understanding the First Ten Years&#8217; took place in Germany and was well attended by many international presenters and delegates.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/sport-research-group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Book-BL-Chapter.png\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-403 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/sport-research-group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Book-BL-Chapter-199x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/sport-research-group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Book-BL-Chapter-199x300.png 199w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/sport-research-group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Book-BL-Chapter.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As part of the planned follow-up to the symposium, a Routledge book titled &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/Physical-Activity-and-Sport-During-the-First-Ten-Years-of-Life-Multidisciplinary\/Bailey-Agans-Cote-Daly-Smith-Tomporowski\/p\/book\/9780367370923\" >Physical Activity and Sport During the First Ten Years of Life<\/a>&#8216; has been published and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/BenLangdown\" >Dr Ben Langdown<\/a> was invited to contribute a chapter on \u2018Developing a movement culture in the first 10 years\u2019 (Chapter 14).<\/p>\n<p>The chapter focuses on stimulating young people towards physical activity and sport, explores the evidence underpinning fundamental movement skill (FMS) development, their role in physical literacy and how to observe, analyse and develop movement.
