The Higher Education Academy’s EvidenceNet Wiki carries a useful resource described as an Introduction to Widening Participation. Adapted from a paper produced by Dr Rob Jones in 2008 for the Higher Education Academy, it provides a background to widening participation; its development as a practice and discourse; policy drivers and development at a UK and national level; and a concise bibliography of key references.

Although now a few years old, I think it covers the right ground, and will be useful to anyone requiring a brief but intelligent introduction to widening participation.

EvidenceNet is the Higher Education Academy’s repository of resources supporting higher education teaching and learning.
