This blog is about widening participation and access research and scholarship at the Open University and across the sector. It is intended to disseminate the outputs of the Open University, reflect and comment on change and development in widening participation and social justice issues across the UK and international higher education sectors.
Alongside this comment, details of conferences and other events, publications and news will be published, with aim of creating a repository of resources for researchers, practitioners, managers and administrators to draw on.
It is written and kept updated for the Open University by staff involved in research and scholarship at the Access Observatory within the Centre for Inclusion and Collaborative Partnerships, which has responsibility for:
- Validation of external programmes
- The Open University’s Access courses and
- Research and scholarship in curriculum and inclusion, widening participation and access.
Contributors to this blog include practitioners, academics and managers at the Open University, which provides a rich perspective on the issues being addressed by attempts to widen participation in higher education.
This blog is a partner site to the Open University’s Access Observatory web pages, which provide details of all the OU’s activity related to widening participation, access, lifelong learning and social justice.
