The Arab Open University (AOU) launched its teaching activities in partnership with The OU in Kuwait in 2002. Since that date, it has grown within the region and now has branches in 9 different countries across the Middle East.
OU licensed courses have been adapted to meet local needs and enable AOU to develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at scale through supported blended learning. Graduates achieve a local award and a validated Open University degree.
Since its launch, over 50,000 students from 30 nationalities have register on validated programmes. The partnership has been successful in its aim of increasing access to education for women. Today, 50% of students are women.
The alliance that AOU has with The Open University makes the AOU an attractive academic institution because we know that our University has partnered with the strongest and most competitive higher education institution for open learning.
