The Open University and Uber Partnership

Uber’s partnership with The Open University (OU) was launched in January 2020 and gives eligible drivers or a nominated member of their family, the opportunity to study with The Open University (OU). Tuition fees funded by Uber and learners have the opportunity to study towards a degree. The programme has so far seen over 750 learners enrol. It is part of a tiered loyalty system called Uber Pro, which enables drivers to unlock benefits based on customer ratings and the number of trips they have completed. All drivers have access to free OpenLearn courses.

The programme has opened up learning to a diverse range of learners who are able to invest in their skills and futures. This programme aligns with the OU’s social remit and has provided opportunities to many who previously encountered barriers to Higher Education study.
