Plurinational citizenship in the making

Lorenza B Fontana is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Geography, University of Sheffield. She will be joining the OU as part of a Marie Curie Fellowship. Lorenza's work focuses on citizenship and social conflicts.

She has recently published a blog in Politics in Spires,Plurinational citizenship in the making, in which she discussed how the Republic of Bolivia officially changed its name to Plurinational State of Bolivia in 2009. In Bolivia, plurinationalism takes the form of a political project able to mobilize traditionally marginalized social sectors, in particular peasants and indigenous populations, triggering a process of renegotiation of meanings, identities and political spaces.
