This Event is part of the 'Being in the Zone' Project that explores the theme of 'peak experience' or 'being in the zone' in music, sport and work. This project is an AHRC funded Research Network, co-investigated by Kath Woodward (OU) and Tim Jordan (King's College London).




10.30-10.45am           Arrival coffee and tea


10.45-11.00am           Introduction Bitz; the story so far and where we go next, Tim Jordan and Kath Woodward


11.00-12.15pm           Zoning Reinvention: The Global Consequences of Makeover Mantras, Prof Anthony Elliott (Director, Hawke a Research Institute)


12.15-1.00pm             Being In the Zone: Liminal Reflections Prof Paul Stenner (Psychology, Open University)


1. 00-2.00pm              LUNCH


2.00-2.30pm               Bitz Music Theme Mark Doffman (University of Oxford), Pedro dos Santos Boia (University of Exeter)


2.30-3.00pm               Cultural Work Theme, Mark Banks, Open University, Tim Jordan (King’s College London)


3.00-3.30pm               Sport Theme, Belinda Wheaton and Ian Wellard

4.00-5.00pm               Group discussion of next steps


We may still have a music event/activity at 5pm but the original plan has fallen through.

There is a CONFERENCE DINNER in the early evening after the event
