Human Rights and Sexual and Gender Identity

Human Rights and Sexual and Gender Identity video image

In the run up to Human Rights Day on 10 December, the OU launched a series of videos in which academics explore various aspects of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights. All six videos are introduced by the poet, Benjamin Zephaniah, who received an Honorary Doctorate from the OU in 2004 and is a keen supporter of human rights.

In Human Rights and Sexual and Gender Identity Darren Langdridge and Meg-John Barker ask why, if how an individual perceives their sexual and gender identity is an integral part of who they are, this isn't enshrined in Human Rights law.
