COVID-19 Offer

An Offer to CPRL Member Forces and Policing to Support Covid-19 Response and Recovery

The Open University’s Centre for Policing Research and Learning (CPRL) is keen to support member forces and the wider police service in responding to and recovering from Covid-19. We understand that UK policing is currently facing a range of new and emerging operational and organisational challenges, and we have already been approached by several member forces for assistance. We would like, where possible, to coordinate our work to ensure it is focused where they are most needed and to avoid duplication of effort where forces can learn from each other.

Using our initial conversations with the forces that have approached us, and in consultation with our academic community, we have prepared a proposed offer for member forces and national policing organisations. This covers research, knowledge into practice, and learning.

In line with the agreed governance of the CPRL, we are keen to seek member force views on our proposals. These were circulated to DCCs and member force leads, as well as the College of Policing and National Police Chiefs’ Council, on 23rd April and we are grateful for all views received so far. If you have not yet contributed, please let us know if you would like more information by contacting OUPC@open.ac.uk. The deadline for initial feedback from forces is 4th May 2020.
