Lucy Bottomley joins the Centre as a Senior Practitioner

Lucy Bottomley joins the Centre as a Senior Practitioner on a 3-month secondment from Thames Valley Police.  During her time at the Centre Lucy will be working on a research project titled 'Victim Disengagement by Domestic Abuse and Rape Victims'.

"Joining the CPRL on secondment in January 2021 as a Senior Practitioner has been a fantastic learning experience for me. I have a BA and Ma in Criminological research from Lancaster University, before I joined Thames Valley Police and I am now a Front Line Police Sergeant. I am currently working with Dr Lis Bates, Dr Dominic Reed and Dr Anna Hopkins on the Victim Disengagement by Domestic Abuse and Rape Victims project and am very excited to get involved in this essential research and with the Centre itself. The Centre has been so welcoming, and has provided an opportunity not only to get involved in national research that I am passionate about, but also to be able learn new essential skills that I will take back to my force with me. I believe in the importance of ‘Research into Practice’ and am fascinated about the gap between strategy and operational policing. I am very much enjoying every minute and look forward to spreading the word about the good work being done here!" Lucy Bottomley
