Success for OU and its 50th anniversary campaign

The Open University’s campaign to mark its 50th birthday has been announced as a winner in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations 2020 excellence awards. The Open University’s campaign, #OU50, took the title in the Education category, beating off stiff competition from universities, including Swansea University, University College London, and University of Oxford to win this prestigious award.  Read the full article here.

The Centre for Policing Research and Learning had an active role in the event. Graham Pike, Zoe Walkington, Nicky Miller, Richard Harding and others were involved in hosting two separate stands at the Open Fest event to showcase our research and activities, allowing the invited members of the public to have a go at facial recognition amongst other tasks and learn about the Centre more generally.

Zoe was also involved in one of the talks at the festival tent, where she introduced a short video created by herself and Criminology professor Steve Tombs, to recognise the amazing work the OU has done in the last 50 years with regard to prisoner education.  Click here to watch the video.
