Accredited study

Looking at an xrayAccredited study means the module you are studying carries academic credit and as such can be counted towards a qualification such as a degree, foundation degree or diploma.

Undergraduate study

If you haven’t studied in higher education before then your studies will start with undergraduate level study. You can choose to study a standalone course or work towards a named undergraduate qualification.

The Open University offers over 600 modules and over 250 different qualifications, so whether you’re studying for personal interest or professional development, there is something suitable for everyone.

Access modules

Access modules are the perfect place to start if you feel you need to develop your study skills and build your confidence. They have been specifically designed to introduce you to higher education and to help ease you into your chosen study path. Students that prepare by taking an Access module are more likely to be more successful in their future studies.

You can study these modules as an additional preparatory stage of your chosen qualification, or as a standalone module. Whichever option you chose, you will receive all the preparation you need to be a successful university student. As many of our students will testify, OU study can change your life. You’ll gain greater confidence, new interests, a sense of achievement and the knowledge that you’re making the most of your potential.

Postgraduate studies

For students who already hold an undergraduate qualification, The Open University offers a range of postgraduate study options including more than 30 taught masters degrees in subjects ranging from Arts and Humanities to Law.

As with our undergraduate programmes, our postgraduate qualifications are respected by employers for the dedication and commitment it takes to achieve one. Since the OU was established back in 1969, we have supported over 170,000 students on taught masters and PhD programmes and in so doing have become recognised as world leaders in providing postgrad distance learning opportunities.
