Finish what you started

Want to take your study further? Build on what you’ve already achieved and change your life with the Open University.

If you have studied at higher education level before (including HNC and HND), you may be able to count what you’ve already done towards an OU qualification – even if you didn’t complete your previous study. This means that you may not have to study all the modules within your chosen qualification – so you pay less and you’ll gain your qualification sooner.

At the OU we call this credit transfer.

The UK's most flexible qualifications

Our Open qualifications offer the most flexibility to people wanting to transfer previous study to the OU. So if you want to change direction, you may still be able to count your previous study towards OU study in a different subject.

Build on what you’ve already achieved

It you have a Foundation Degree, HND, Certificate of Higher Education or another qualification, you could count this towards an undergraduate degree. Credit transfer is available for a wide range of previous qualifications - even if you didn't complete the whole qualification.

A new start, a new career, a new perspective

Choose from a wide variety of subjects from business to psychology, computing to health and social care. We’ve got something to inspire everyone – your degree could be closer than you think!

I had already done a couple of years at another university but didn't finish. I wanted to finish my studies whilst working and the OU fitted in part-time really well. It was really easy to do – everyone at the OU was really helpful.
