What you can study

Postgraduate courses provide skills and knowledge that can bring real-life benefits to you and your career. We recommend that you set aside 16–18 hours to study these each week. To prepare for postgraduate course study we advise all applicants complete our Succeeding in postgraduate study course on OpenLearn.

Microcredential courses are designed to help you quickly build in-demand career skills and knowledge to stay up to date with relevant and emerging practices, progress in growth industries, and get ahead. We recommend that you set aside around 10–13 hours to study each week. Learn more by watching our microcredential explainer video.

I had read about funded places on the Skill Up programme and with the cost of living increasing it was a very attractive offer which allowed me to save money and gain new qualifications. Participation in the course has opened many doors for me. After unexpectedly losing my job, I used this as an opportunity to change career. If I had not completed the postgraduate module in Project Management, I wouldn’t have been offered my current role which involves project management as I had no experience.
