Dr Andrew Hirst

Co-director of the White Rose Industrial Physics Academy, Dept. of Physics: University of York

Dr Andrew Hirst is a co-director of the White Rose Industrial Physics Academy (www.wripa.ac.uk) at the Department of Physics, University of York.  WRIPA has received investment from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and the Office for Students (OfS). Including funding from the five universities the total investment in WRIPA is ~£5M. He provides leadership and strategic direction to WRIPA and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Academy. 

He has a PhD in Polymer Chemistry and Rheology (Leeds, 2001) and is a member of the Association for Project Management and the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS).  He has published work related to graduate mobility and outcomes, factors that influence students’ career decision-making and the impact of work-based learning on students' career readiness.
