START: Coaching for resilience

This course is aimed at individuals with little or no coaching experience, but who have an interest in people and their development, wellbeing and performance.

It would be highly valuable to managers, professionals or volunteers in either a person or team-focused role within in any industry sector.

You will be provided with many of the resources you’d expect from an OU short course, such as videos, interactive activities and quizzes. This course builds around you, your practice and the coaching experience that you gain from interacting with those around you. Once you register and enrol on this course you will have access to the course website and all the materials until November 2023.

Within each unit there are a number of short activities set as mini professional challenges. These are things to try out in your day-to-day practice as a coach. The activities we suggest will not involve extensive reading or research, but they will encourage you to observe, communicate or otherwise interact with those you work with. Importantly, you’ll be guided in how to ‘contract’ with others to ensure both you and they are comfortable with the frameworks used in coaching. You will be encouraged to get into the habit of recording brief insights and reflections on your coaching activity.

Title one

There is one assessed part to START: Coaching for resilience. It is a short quiz covering a range of topics at the end of the fourth and final unit. The quiz will test you on the main learning points delivered throughout the course and on passing this you’ll get a digital badge and a certificate as a record of your learning.
