Women and political dialogue in Libya: the challenges of participation on- and off-line

Wed, 27 April 2022, 12:30 to 14:00

Microsoft Teams

In March 2021, the Lawyers for Justice in Libya launched a Report on Online Violence Against Women in Libya. It is the first research-based report concerning the phenomenon of OVAW in Libya, which draws on empirical data concerning Libyan women’s experiences of online abuse. The talk will draw on the findings of that research to discuss the contemporary challenges that Libyan women face in participating in public and political life, but especially so in the ongoing process of political dialogue in post-Arab Spring Libya.

Chair

Dr Lorena Lombardozzi, Senior Lecturer in Economics at The Open University
