Data Champion: Emily Dowdeswell

Postgraduate research student , WELS/ ECYS

Twitter: @intracommons

Research interests: My doctoral research explores the role of fun in learning. My aim is to gather the perspectives of older children in primary school in order to learn how they understand fun and learning so that we can begin to build a model for the role of fun in learning in primary school. These findings can inform the wider conversation around fun and learning too!

My data: To be decided! The pandemic has disrupted my plans for an ethnographic face to face study which would have primarily focused on narrative, observation, and interview data.

Why I became a Data Champion: The research imagery is often crowded by lab coats and numbers. Valuable knowledge is generated in other ways too and so my motivation for this is to help frame and showcase these other ways of working!
