The Library purchases online resources such as e-books and e-journals for the benefit of students and staff. Occasionally, you may experience problems accessing online content you wish to use. These problems may be caused by many different factors, varying from publishers updating their online platforms to specific issues with your computer or device set up.
We always seek to troubleshoot access difficulties and restore coverage to online resources and systems as quickly as possible, but there are often things that you can do in the first instance to tackle technical problems yourself. So, we’ve created four new webpages within the Help and Support section on the library website that provides advice and guidance on help with online resources - details of which are below:
If you are experiencing problems accessing online content, this page details a few things you can try in the first instance, such as clearing cache/cookies, using incognito mode, or disabling browser extensions.
In case of a general problem with your OU login details this page gives an overview of the required passwords to access library subscriptions and features links to IT and the Computing Guide.
Currently, this page features the most common questions that the Library Helpdesk receives, with answers to these questions. This page will however be reviewed and updated frequently taking into consideration new trends and problems in the world of eresources and their access problems.
If there are any database problems and/or scheduled downtimes, they will be announced on this page, so it’s always worth checking this page for updates if you are experiencing any access issues.
