Student Voice Week: ‘Building library skills’ workshop a success

A dark blue background featuring the OU and OU Students Association logos. The text reads, 'The floor is yours. Student Voice Week 7 - 13 November'.Back in November 2022, the Library’s Live Engagement team facilitated a workshop during Student Voice Week entitled ‘Collaborating for confidence: building library skills for success’. Approximately 50 students took part in the session and gave us plenty of fantastic ideas on what the Library could do to help them feel more confident in using the library resources and what library skills they want to learn to support them with their studies.

There were also three breakout group discussions in which students shared how the Library could support them to develop their library skills and how it could be delivered in an interesting way.

We’ll be using all the ideas and feedback shared by students to inform the development of a new library training session or segment and will incorporate student feedback to make tweaks to current sessions. We're also planning to involve students in this work and have a list of potential volunteers from the session.

The students involved also gave us some lovely feedback on the session itself, including praising how interactive the session was and how happy they were to have the opportunity to participate and give ideas for the library.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the students who participated for their time and ideas.
