Race and ethnicity resource list

A group of young students are sitting outside underneath a tree, talking to each other whilst holding study booksIn October 2022 we launched a new resource list, Diverse Voices, which is a collection of databases, websites and directories available through the online library providing access to writers and resources from diverse groups who are typically under-represented in commercial publications. The OU is dedicated to becoming an anti-racist institution, and as part of this work we wanted to highlight resources that staff, students and postgraduate researchers can use to become better allies and to better understand the different experiences people may face because of their race or ethnicity.

We have continued to work with our BME Staff Network to compile a selection of resources – including articles, videos, and short courses – that relate to various aspects of race and ethnicity. Most are grouped by the subject matter they relate to, but we also have some free courses for you to consider, as well as research that has been undertaken by OU postgraduate researchers.

Our sincere thanks go to Sas Amoah, Roberta Davies and the OU BME Network, who compiled the list of resources for us to feature on our site. We will be promoting this resource list, and all of our resource lists, so that everyone at the OU can benefit from the insights and information that have been collated. We hope these resources provide a great starting point for us all to learn more about the history and experiences of people of colour.
