Benefits

Reference (or bibliographic) management tools enable you to store and manage your references and automatically generate bibliographies in a variety of styles. This session will give you an overview of some freely available reference management tools, and there will be a brief look at three of the better known commercial tools.  This is an ideal session for new students who would like to know what is available and the best tool to choose for their studies.

Any OU member (staff or student) can attend this session.

By the end of this session you should:

• Know about some freely available tools
• Know which tool is most appropriate for your level of study
• Know about transferring references from Library databases to tools
• Know about .ris files
