Significant figures

In this example the response must contain the correct value to the expected number of significant figures.

Points to note

• responses with too many significant figures are commented on accordingly
• responses which are rounded the wrong way are identified
• the graph here is drawn 'on the fly' by OpenMark
• as the graph is drawn by software it is straightforward to include several variants
• many students miss the power of 10 on the y axis and the response matching has been improved to comment on errors of this form
