OU Cycling Club

The OU Cycling Club was formed in July 2014 as a group to promote all types of cycling. The OU Bicycle Users Group still exists as an informal entity for any bicycle user at the OU to share information. However, if you are a keen cyclist then the OU Cycling Club will offer you additional membership benefits as well as the opportunity to participate in cycling activities with like-minded colleagues.

The club is affiliated to official bodies to allow members ot take part in national and internatioanl events and be covered by insurance.

We are affiliated to the OU Club, British Cycling, Road Time Trials and Greensands Trust (Off-road)

The main aims of the club are:

• To organise regular social rides with other club members (road or MTB, depending on demand, local to Milton Keynes)
• Information sharing/social/tech/bike chat between members
• Cycling-related social trips (e.g. to watch races or visit a velodrome)
• Cycle rides after work followed by a curry or other restaurant
• Saturday club run
• Lunchtime training rides
• Strava group
• Facebook group

We are always looking for suggestions for club activities from members, let us know what you would like the club to do. To entice you to join, we have arranged some initial benefits for members only:

• Chance to purchase an exclusive OU Cycling Club jersey.
• Discounted British Cycling membership when you join for the first time. British Cycling membership gives you public liability insurance.
• When out on your bike, and various other offers and discounts (e.g. 10% off at Halfords/Chain Reaction Cycles and Twenty3c).
• Track pump, spare inner-tubes and tools available to members at the Security Lodge

The annual membership fee is only £6.

You do not have to be a member of British Cycling to join the OU Cycling Club.
