Christopher Houghton

I am a first year AstrobiologyOU PhD student and the title of my project is “Defining a capitals approach to evaluating the socio-economic benefits of space exploration.”

Working from the Faulty of Business and Law my project will investigate the benefits of space exploration, particularly in light of the industry’s expansion into the private sector and across non-traditional nations. Having followed my first degree with a career lasting over 20 years a return to pure academia is a return to an unfamiliar yet exciting environment. Most recently I studied for an Expert de Defence in Paris and completed the Chartered Management's Institute's Level 8 Strategic Management Certificate at Manchester Business School. I am hoping that my professional skill set and experience will add a further dimension to my work.
