I was an Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) in the Faculty of Technology and in the Faculty of Mathematics, Computing and Technology before becoming a central academic and Director of Teaching in the former Department of Engineering and Innovation. I held the role of Deputy Head of the School of Engineering and Innovation from 2016- 2020.

I  chaired the self-assessment team which made a successful submission for an Athena SWAN Bronze award in 2016 and was deputy chair when the School was awarded Athena SWAN Silver in 2020 .

I am a Council member of the Women's Engineering Society, a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and an academic accreditor with the IET.

Research interests

My scholarship interests are in three key areas; assessment for learning, inclusive engineering education and Women in Engineering.

I am an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Gender, Science and Technology.

Teaching interests

I am currently a member of several module teams teaching engineering to first year students. I am particularly interested in encouraging more women to study engineering.

Recently I was part of the team tasked with mitigating the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on engineering students practical experience.

I am a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy
