How might we think differently and creatively about the many stories and encounters with place, landscape and environment? How do places and their pasts continue to shape the present and future worlds in which we live? This research area addresses these kinds of questions through our work on creative and experimental geographies to push geographical research in exciting, new directions. Research in this area includes the visual culture of maps; sound, dance, music, as well as auditory spaces; historical and political geographies of knowledge and exploration; filmic geographies; historical geographies of infrastructure; water heritage; urban imaginaries; and peace education.
Research in this area has been recognised for advancing innovative research methods and creative engagements, including qualitative digital methods, participatory methods, and sonic cultures – we are always open to new, creative ways of knowing and intervening in a changing world.
Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent). If you are not a UK citizen, you may need to prove your knowledge of English.
