The Language, Literature and Politics (LLP) research group is a cross-faculty collective bringing together researchers from the School of Arts and Humanities and the School of Languages and Applied Linguistics.

The aim of the group is to investigate the relationship between language, literature, and politics in the widest variety of contexts. Research in the LLP group ranges in period from the Early Modern to the contemporary; in discipline from Applied Linguistics to English Literature, Creative Writing, Politics, Psychology and History; and in area from Britain and Europe to a wide variety of postcolonial locations.

Animated by the Open University’s commitment to challenge disciplinary borders, to nurture social critique, and seek answers to societal challenges, the LLP group invites PhD applications from all students in the fields of Language, Literature and Politics, but especially those students eager to study how these disciplines relate to each other.
