Formerly, I worked as a journalist and documentary filmmaker. I completed an MSc in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). My dissertation looked at the role of participatory video in enhancing the political capabilities of grassroots communities. I hold a degree in Journalism from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and I am a trained Participatory Video facilitator.

Research interests

I joined the OU as a PhD student in 2017 as an interdisciplinary researcher based in the Politics and International Studies (POLIS) department. I am taking an intersectional feminism approach to exploring the role of digital technologies, particulalry instant messaging, in the citizenship capabilities of young people and women in Kenya. My research cuts across the disciplines of international development, in particular the field of ICT4D (Information and Communication Technologies for Development), feminism, citizenship studies and political theory, and science and technology studies.
