Mr Alois Nyanhete

Alois is a Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Social Policy and Criminology. He holds an Advanced Master’s degree in Microfinance from Université libre de Bruxelles which was awarded with Grande Distinction. In addition to this, Alois holds a Master of Science in Finance and Investment degree as well as a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Risk Management and Insurance degree from the National University of Science and Technology in Zimbabwe. Alois has professional experience from the insurance, banking and microfinance disciplines.

Alois’ doctoral study is entitled “The role of international mobile remittances in promoting financial inclusion and development. A Zimbabwean case study”. He is supervised by Professor Nicola Yeates, Dr. Cristina Santos and Dr. Ben Lampert. The study focuses on a technological innovation that enables international remittances to be received on the electronic mobile phone wallets of recipients. The research particularly aims to investigate the effect of international mobile remittances on access to financial services and the financial capabilities of the senders and recipients of remittances.
