Professional biography

Barbara Conde obtained a Bachelor Degree in Modern Languages at the Pontificia Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia. Her thesis was published in the Lingua Xaveriana Journal of the faculty of Communication and Language. Barbara also obtained an online diploma for a course on teaching Spanish as a foreign language at Universidad Externado de Colombia. After working as an English teacher for two years in Colombia, Barbara enrolled on the MA in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics at Coventry University, which she completed (with a distinction mark) in 2016 with a dissertation on a blended MOOC integration. She is currently studying for her PhD on MOOCs for Foreign Language Learning at the Open University, supported by the award of a Leverhulme scholarship while also working as a Spanish lecturer at Coventry University. She has published two articles based on her MA dissertation and has presented at national and international conferences.
