The Enterprise team in RES can assist you with commercialising outputs of your research activity and/or assessing the commercialisation potential of your research activity. Services offered include:

  • IP advice for research projects
  • Market assessment
  • Production of an exploitation plan
  • IP protection (patents, trademarks, registered designs and copyright)
  • Licencing
  • Spin-outs

The starting point for assessing Intellectual Property for commercial opportunities is to complete an Invention Disclosure Form.

The Commercialisation Handbook (internal only) contains further guidance on Intellectual Property, knowledge exchange, material transfer agreements and non-disclosure agreements.

Impact, Knowledge Exchange and Public Engagement

The RES Impact team can assist you with demonstrating and capturing evidence of the academic, economic and social impact of your project during its lifespan and for impact case studies submitted to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). In addition, the team can provide advice and guidance on public engagement and knowledge exchange activities to maximise the impact of your project.
