At the OU, there is a well-established tradition of using design approaches in the development and production of our curriculum. These design approaches use visual representations of the curriculum in a way that enables critical discussion review and sharing of learning designs ad design data.
Learning analytics involves the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of big data related to learners, with the intention of providing actionable intelligence. At The Open University, there is increased recognition that smart and pedagogically-informed learning analytics are urgently needed to solve the challenge of student retention.
