Dr Ine Steenmans

Ine Steenmans is a Lecturer in Futures, Analysis and Policy at University College London (UCL). Her interests focus primarily on enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency by which futures methods and approaches (e.g. visioning, horizon scanning, scenarios, roadmapping) are used in practice to support public policy design. Fundamental to the applied nature of such analytic work, all projects are only undertaken in partnership with policy partners, using an integrated mixture of research, practice, and education. The focus is on enhancing a way of thinking and working, rather than specialising within a particular sector or discipline. Some of Ine’s recent projects have involved systems mapping of policy goals underpinning the UK Industrial Strategy Missions (Policy Lab / BEIS), development of risk scenarios for the disruption of critical infrastructure by the Internet of Things (Lloyds), and future requirements mapping for enhancing the role of blockchain technologies in the circular economy (British Academy Leverhulme).
