Two for the price of one!

13th July 2021

eSTEeM pulled out all the stops this year with not just one but two annual conferences which took place at the end of June.

First up, eSTEeM hosted the sixth Horizons in STEM Higher Education Conference on the 29-30 June. The second time that the event took place online, this was a record breaking year with over 90 abstract submissions and over 260 registrations representing 50 HEIs, including 4 international universities. A roaring success, the conference is now firmly established as a key dissemination and networking opportunity for STEM pedagogical practitioners and researchers both in the UK and beyond.

A quick costume change and then it was straight into hosting the 10th eSTEeM Annual Conference or the ‘eSTEeM Fringe’ on the 30 June-1 July. Whilst it may have been a reduced programme, we still had a fantastic array of innovative STEM scholarship on display.

Delegates were invited to vote for the best interactive poster presentation and congratulations go to Sue Pawley and Sally Organ for their poster Exploring the extent of maths anxiety amongst students within the STEM faculty at the Open University.

This year’s conference saw the 4th eSTEeM Scholarship Projects of the Year Awards. Prizes were awarded for projects in two categories; Innovative Approach to Teaching and Enhancing the Student Experience. Many congratulations go to the following eSTEeM project teams –

May we say a huge thank you to our colleagues in MarComms, Babette Oliver and Amy Sharpe, who were again an enormous help to the eSTEeM Management Team during both conferences.
