Join Voluntary Health Scotland and The Open University for this event exploring ageing, health and wellbeing.

Over the course of 2020 and in January 2021, Voluntary Health Scotland and The Open University (OU) ran a series of joint online events exploring how to age well.

Dr Jitka VseteckovaLed by Dr Jitka Vsecteckova,OU Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Social Care (pictured), with discussion and input from third sector staff, volunteers and older people themselves, these talks centred on understanding of the five pillars of ageing and considered their implications for older people’s health and wellbeing. The five pillars of ageing well are: nutrition, hydration, physical activity, cognitive stimulation and social stimulation.

This event will pick up the discussion and will include a brief overview of topics covered over the course of the talks.

We now know about the pillars of ageing, but how can we make a difference for those we work with? What else do we need to consider when looking at how we age? What other areas of ageing do we need to spotlight? Join us at this event to share your thoughts on ageing and wellbeing.

Book your free place on this Eventbrite page for the Ageing Well Virtual Talk. Once registered, Voluntary Health Scotland will send you the link for the online event.

There is a range of free learning about ageing well, on the OU's free learning site OpenLearn, including a video and short article by Dr Jitka Vseteckova, on How to age well while self-isolating.
