Find out about a new professional development course on using language learning to enhance older people's wellbeing and self-esteem in care.

In this webinar, The Open University and Lingo Flamingo - an organisation in Scotland which aims to make language learning interactive and accessible - will present their new online certificate course.

The introductory level, 15-week Learning languages with senior learners course is for anyone working with older people either in paid or unpaid care settings, who has an interest in languages and cultures, and/or basic knowledge of another language. Registration is open until 13 March and the course runs until 25 June 2023.

This webinar will illustrate how staff and care home residents/senior learners can embark on a joint language learning journey together to help promote brain health, boost confidence, and enhance the wellbeing of everyone involved.

You will find out from those who teach the course:

  • About the collaboration between the OU and Lingo Flamingo
  • How the course study works
  • How it can positively impact everyone in your care setting
  • What is required to pass it successfully
  • How it can enhance social care staff's employability
  • How to enrol

Reserve your spot via the Eventbrite page for the course launch webinar

This webinar will also take place on Thursday 2 March 2023.
