The Open University has given pupils from Denny High, near Falkirk, the control codes for two of the world’s most advanced telescopes.

Claudio Marturano, studying for a Master of Business Administration, has become the first OU student to win a prestigious Royal Society of Edinburgh enterprise fellowship.

Laura McHarrie, a social worker with Dumfries and Galloway Council, has won an award for the highest performing graduate in the Open University’s social work programme in Scotland. 

An innovative scheme teaching primary teachers languages and how to teach those languages to pupils is being expanded across Scotland for the first time.

A  languages project for primary schools, and free online courses about law making in Scotland are shortlisted for the prestigious Herald Higher Education Awards.

The winner of the 2018 Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) Helen Dowie Award for Lifelong Learning is Lisa McGuinness from HMRC.  The award is sponsored by The Open University in Scotland and will be presented by the Rt Hon Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland.

The rarely-heard music of a fugitive 16th century Scottish priest will be performed at a special concert in Glasgow, based on research by Dr Elaine Moohan of The Open University.
