OU Future Nurse Programme - Information Sessions

Helen Kafantari Maciver, OU Nursing graduate Are you working in healthcare and interested in becoming a nurse?

The Open University (OU) can enable healthcare support workers - and those in similar level roles in a healthcare setting - to become nurses.

The Open University's pre-registration Bachelor of Science (Honours) nursing programme starts in October 2023.

At the OU you can study Adult, Mental Health, Learning Disability and Children and Young People’s Nursing.

Look out for information sessions being delivered within your local NHS Board area. They will be running between December 2022 to February 2023 and will be advertised locally.

The sessions will provide you with information about the programme and the application process.

To be eligible to apply for the nursing programme, you need to be employed as a healthcare support worker, or in a similar level role at a health board, work a minimum of 26 hours a week and have the support of your line manager.

If you are unsure whether you have the qualifications to apply, you will find information in this narrated presentation: https://youtu.be/Q0u9HSxWHT4

If you cannot find details on sessions being offered in your local area please contact scotland-nursing-applications-hwsc@open.ac.uk.

There is more information about our nursing programmes, including stories from healthcare support workers who have become nurses through the OU, on our Nursing webpage
