Professional biography

I am a Post-doctoral Research Associate in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. I received my doctorate degree at Imperial College London where I pursued my passion in Aeronautics Research.

Research interests

My research revolves around the design and development of aerospace-grade metamaterials enabled by recent strides in additive manufacturing (3D printing) technology. My endeavors seek to embed the functional behavior of these metamaterials in their underlying microarchitecture. This has led to the development of a multiscale optimization framework for real-life structures built up of lattice microstructures where I tailor the mechanical and thermal properties of these structures by the optimal design of their lattice microparameters.

Currently, I am investigating the mechanical properties of aperiodically ordered spatial structures. The investigation of aperiodic structures is motivated by the discovery of quasicrystals in the 1980s (for which Dan Shechtman received the Nobel prize in Chemistry in 2011). This study of aperiodic structures promises the realization of interesting novel metamaterials as aperiodic order already exists in nature's quasicrystals.
