Recruitment for October 2021

Applications for PhD study to commence 1 October 2021 will open from 1 January 2021. Opportunities are available for both full-time and part-time PhD study, and two or more studentships will be available for allocation to full-time applicants, which cover fees, include a stipend (£15,285 per annum for 2020–2021) plus £1250 travel allowance each year. 

Application deadline: 5.00pm, 5 March 2021

Applicants are encouraged to apply for one of several named projects. Applicants should state clearly which project(s) they are applying for on their application, listing the order of preference. Please list no more than three projects.

PhD students benefit from a lively research environment with a full programme of seminars; extensive university training and career development opportunities and support to join an appropriate learned society.The School of Mathematics and Statistics provides a friendly and flexible working environment for all of its staff and students, and holds a Bronze Athena SWAN award. We particularly welcome applications from women: the School ensures that every female PhD student is allocated a female member of staff as a point of contact, and organises networking events for female academic staff and PhD students.

  3. Submit informal enquiries to the Postgraduate Research Tutor.
  4. Apply by completing an application form and email it to the Postgraduate Research Tutor.

Full time study
