Blaenau Gwent REACH: Free workshops - Aberbeeg Community Centre

Fun and friendly workshops in art, creative writing, photography, employability and sustainability. 

Sessions are FREE and open to people with any level of experience. For over 16’s. 

The same workshops will run in different places on a range of dates to give you more choice.

Creative writing for fun 
These sessions will include a range of exercises to kick-start your creativity. You will investigate local history and characters and use them as the basis of a story, script, or poem. You will also practise painting pictures with words to create poetry or descriptive prose.

Photography 
Pick up some tips in using your smartphone camera to capture the world around you, especially the history and heritage of where you live. You must bring your own smartphone along with you for these workshops.

Visual art 
Explore the history and heritage of your local area through visual arts. These sessions will be run jointly by visual artists and art historians, helping you to better understand art as well as creating your own.

• Session 1: 10:00 - 11:30 Interactive and fun sessions on personal branding and developing interview skills.
• Session 2: 13:00 - 14:30 Entrepreneurial ideas.
• Session 3: 15:00 - 16:30 Social enterprises that address local community issues. 

Sustainability: An unsustainable life   
Explore an alternative future for the area by rethinking your daily actions and habits in the environment of Blaenau Gwent. Workshops may involve walks outside the venue to connect with the environment around you.
