DataPlus for Moodle 2.0

Posted on June 15th, 2011 at 3:26 pm by admin

Finally completed a working beta for Moodle 2.0 today including import from Moodle 1.9.  You can get it from the download page.  I’d very much appreciate your comments.

Once this is past, there will be a new version with…

  • Renderer support
  • MP4 and Flash field types
  • Expand collapse options for templates
  • Mobile view and input templates

Plus a new, better, set of documentation.

There are two small new features in the beta.  A ‘clear all data’ option for editors to empty all records but keep the templates and data structure (useful if you want to import the database to use as the basis of another instance of the module but obviously to use with caution) and the ability to show an unlimited number of records on the view screen (useful for some folks engaged in template building).

Hopefully the file will be here tomorrow.

Updates – Moodle 2.0, Fixes and New Module Setting

Posted on December 9th, 2010 at 10:50 am by admin

Version 1.2.4, for Moodle 2.0,  has completed testing and is now available on the download screen.  There are a number of the bug fixes so it is well worth updating.  It also includes a module setting to restrict the number of records a user can create in a DataPlus instance.

Moodle 2.0 conversion is still ongoing and I am still hoping to have a beta for Christmas, however other work is beckoning so it maybe delayed to the end of January.

Bug Fixes – DataPlus 1.2.3 Now Available

Posted on October 15th, 2010 at 4:17 pm by admin

DataPlus 1.2.3 is now available from the download screen.  It fixes a major in 1.2.2 that caused one table to be created without a primary key and an upgrade that automatically fixes any databases impacted by this bug.  If you are using 1.2.2, you should upgrade.

Two significant bug reports came in just too late for version 1.2, so 1.2.1 is available now.

Briefly the bugs, if you noticed them, were –
Search results not displaying correctly if ‘next’ link clicked.
Validation of imported databases failing when sequence table present.

Finally got round to submitting DataPlus to Moodle contrib this afternoon.  Also, a new version, with a couple of small bug fixes courtesy of the work of our tester, is available on the downloads page.

Testing in Progress

Posted on April 21st, 2010 at 1:52 pm by admin

Just to let you know that a professional tester is casting an expert eye over DataPlus this week.

So far, I am pleased to say, they’ve only found a couple of small issues with template editing and a very trivial navigation issue.   They’ve been fixed quickly.  I’ll release a new version of the code  later this week.

Moodle Moot UK 2010

I am lucky enough to be presenting on DataPlus and the Open University mobile Moodle initiatives at Moodle Moot UK 2010 at University of London tomorrow.   You can find my slides here (including a few nice screen shots of DataPlus).  First presentation I’ve done in over a year, so I am nervous but looking forward to the response.
