William Shaw : When I was a child, recollections from an old potter

'The description of his [the character Darius Clayhanger in Clayhanger] labours as a child, and his days in the workhouse, are not drawn from Enoch's own past, but largely from a book by William Shaw published in 1903, called When I was a Child, Recollections of an Old Potter [title in italics].
